Bayreuth – At the heart of Wagners universe

In 1876 the Bayreuth Festival was held for the first time. Since then, Bayreuth is considered to be the centre of Richard Wagner’s work. “Global Culture” is the right term to describe the Bayreuth Festival. Every year in July and August, thousands of opera fans from all over the world flock to see and listen to Richard Wagner’s music, at the authentic, original location.

The Festspielhaus, built according to Richard Wagner’s plans, opened in 1876. Not only the atmosphere is unique but also the acoustics are amazing; as a result the performances are an unforgettable experience! The Festspielhaus was built along the lines of an antique theatre. Today it is considered to be one of the world’s best opera houses.

While you’re in Bayreuth….

Many world famous musicians, singers, conductors have performed in Bayreuth. Well known composers and authors have visited the Bayreuth Festival. Peter Tchaikovsky, Claude Debussy and Gustav Mahler were here – just to name a few!
